Drs. Catherine Harrell and Vineet Mishra represented the Texas Dermatological Society at the the AAD Advisory Board meeting that took place in March, 2015 in San Francisco, California. While Dr. Harrell attended the Reference Committee Meeting where the resolutions from members were both presented and debated, Dr. Mishra attended the Advisory Board voting meeting. Both meetings were equally spirited. Among the resolutions discussed, the hot topic issues were removal of the Maintenance of Certification, creation of a Mohs Surgery board certification, and raising of the AAD membership dues. The Advisory Board ultimately voted in favor of supporting elimination of maintenance of certification and opted to table a resolution regarding a Mohs Surgery board certification. The approved resolutions were passed along to the AAD Board of Directors who met shortly thereafter.
Drs. Harrell and Mishra will be representing the Texas Dermatological Society this fall in Washington DC.

SkinPAC is the political action committee (PAC) of the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AADA). It is the only PAC solely dedicated to the dermatology profession. SkinPAC solicits contributions from AADA members to support the campaigns of candidates for federal elected office who have demonstrated an understanding of and interest in the views and goals of the specialty. Since its inception, SkinPAC has grown to become a million dollar PAC, enhancing AADA’s public profile and increasing dermatology’s visibility and impact within the public policy arena.
